The MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art is one of Krakow´s most recent additions.
Opening in 2011, the pristine glass complex features some of the finest artwork by the country´s leading avant-garde artists exhibited in minimalist pavilions to give the open space a sense of depth.
Built on the site of a former factory alongside the Oskar Schindler Museum, the MOCAK international collection includes some of the lesser known modern day artists featured alongside rising stars such as Tomasz Bajer, and Leopold Kessler.
Exhibits in MOCAK are temporary shows so visitors are advised to research what event is being held before attending to determine whether it might be of interest, though the standard is generally high.
The curators tend to steer towards photography, video and other visual installations executed with a conceptual angle and delivering a strong political or social message.
