Travel to Krakow

Travel to Krakow – once the home of the kings of Poland, then (and still) the Polish cultural capital, and now – one of the centers of European nightlife. Cracow has always been a popular destination for those who travel either for business (see Poland's oldest supermarket – the medieval Cloth Hall), or who travel plainly for sightseeing and fun.

Travel to Krakow by Plane

Krakow airport, the second biggest in Poland, offers direct connections to and from about 30 European and American airports, so it's likely that those who decide to travel by plane won't have a problem getting to Cracow. The airport itself is just a few kilometers from Krakow and one can get to the city by train, bus or simply a cab. Travel to Krakow by Car

Although Poland is famous for its awful roads, traveling to Krakow by car is not a bad experience, especially if you come from the west with the A4 motorway, via or from Wroclaw or Katowice. Car travel is probably the most convenient way to stay mobile and independent, and some interesting Polish cities, including Warsaw, Wroclaw, Zakopane or Czestochowa lie just a few hundred kilometers away.

Travel to Krakow by train

The Krakow Train Station is located right in the city center, just a short walk away from the Cracow Old Town with the most important landmarks, and the best restaurants. Getting to Krakow by train is perfect for those who decide to travel to or from one of the nearby capitals (Budapest, Vienna, Warsaw), and the Polish Railways (PKP) offer cheap and comfortable trips to the Krakow surroundings.

Travel to Krakow by bus

The Krakow Bus Station is just a few steps away from the Cracow Train Station, making the spot a perfect place to start your trips to the surroundings. Although the bus travel to Krakow is probably the least popular way of getting here, the offer is still worth considering, as many international carriers offer a bus trip to the city.

Krakow Travel Tips

- If you travel to Krakow by plane but the only possible destination in Poland from your airport is Warsaw, it might be better to try and change planes and eventually land in Krakow, as the travel from the Warsaw airport to the train station, and then another 3 hours in the train to Krakow can be a painful experience.

- When traveling to Krakow, it's better to book accommodation in advance: help us to help you choose the best way to spend your night.

- A cab is always a good way to travel around the city, or get to your hotel from the airport, train or bus station, but it's always better (=cheaper) to call (or have somebody call) a taxi than to hail one from the stop. All cabs have a little yellow sticker on the right hind window showing the prices.

- A general travel tip: those who tip are more than welcome. 10% should do the job.
