How to Find Entertainment in Krakow
Krakow is a city of many charms, and though its landmarks and the art gathered in the Cracow Museums offer enough entertainment for many days, one sometimes doesn't feel like watching another building, painting or sculpture – and craves some more action, or simply more diversified entertainment.
So for those who already did all the Krakow Tours, below is a list of other ways to find entertainment in Krakow.
Perhaps the most popular means of entertainment among the Krakow locals, the Krakow Cinemas are numerous and offer a wide range of movies, from the latest blockbusters to vintage classics. Plus, films are rarely dubbed, and English subtitled Polish movies are more and more common, especially in the cinemas closer to the Krakow Main Square, that are bound to attract tourists.
Excellent actors, fantastic repertoires and often magnificent interiors – the Krakow theatres are a real treat for the eyes – and the ears if you happen to speak Polish. As Krakow becomes more and more international, theatre performances in other languages become more common, though. Additionally, theatre festivals are organized in Krakow every few months, most often with an international and high-class line-up.
The new Krakow Opera House may look a bit cumbersome from the outside, but inside the artists will surely take you for an unforgettable trip. Some may think opera is too sophisticated (which is just another word for “boring”), but it seems the artists know what entertainment is.
If classical music is your thing, the Krakow Philharmonic is your place. Great musicians, a diversified repertoire and fairly cheap tickets make the place crowded, though, so it's better to plan your attendance in advance. Additionally, the musicians of the Krakow Philharmonic often perform in other surroundings than the hall – the Wawel Castle being the most spectacular.
The tired and desiring some peace and quiet will find their oasis of calamity in the numerous Krakow Parks. Those include the Blonia Commons and the Wolski Forrest, with the picturesquely located Krakow Zoo right in the middle.
Although tourists spend their time shopping for gifts in the world's oldest shopping mall – the Krakow Cloth Hall – some just like to shop for entertainment. And since the prices are usually quite low, it is likely you might buy more than you expected.
A lot of daytime activities can't stop you from enjoying the lively and rich Krakow Nightlife. A word of warning, though: what begins with just a dance in one of the Krakow Clubs can end in a virtual pub crawl. The Krakow atmosphere can be really intoxicating at times, and many have been too overwhelmed to stand straight.
Polish, Italian, French, African or Indian cuisine – whatever you find tasty or simply interesting can be found in the numerous Krakow Restaurants. And if you think eating can't be entertainment, just try the Polish specialties and you'll see the fun stops long after the stomach's full.
