Auschwitz - Birkenau (1941-1945) the largest of Nazi Germany's concentration camps, has become a symbol of the holocaust.

Our Auschwitz – Birkenau tours leave daily from Krakow’s city centre, and when you book with us we include the pick up from your accommodation.

A tour of Auschwitz – Birkenau is understandably a priority for most visitors to Krakow, it is an experience that you will never forget. Auschwitz is located approx 50km's west of Krakow (see our map below) so the most convenient way see the camp, is a guided tour. Tours leave the city centre of Krakow daily during low season and twice daily in peak tourist season.
Auschwitz took its name from the nearby Polish town of Oswiecim.  After invading Poland the Nazi’s gave all Polish towns an equivalent German name so Oswiecim became Auschwitz.  The town of Oswiecim is a quiet country town and it seems hard to believe that such evil was perpetrated in such an ordinary place.
Approximately 90% of the victims were Jews, who were sent from the many corners of Europe; in fact, in Auschwitz, you can find an exhibit illustrating the countries victims were shipped from. Most of those transported to Auschwitz met their deaths in the Zyklon B Gas chambers, other causes of death were execution, starvation, lack of disease control and purported ‘medical experiments’ Rudolf Hess testified at the Nuremberg trials that over three million people had been put to death in Auschwitz however the Auschwitz Birkenau Meuseum has revised this figure to 1.1 million.

1 Jun - 30 Sept - tour goes twice a day - pick-up times: 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m
1 Oct – 31 Dec – daily – pick up time: 8:30 a.m
